Girardi will take all time he needs to beat Boston

Don't expect Joe Girardi to adhere to any Joe West time limits during the Yankees next three games against the Red Sox. The manager said Wednesday that his players won't speed up the pace in an attempt to appease the critical umpire who called both teams "pathetic" and "embarrassing" for their noted marathon sessions.
"We're there to win games, not get finished in 2 1/2 hours," Girardi said. "So I expect our players to play hard, be selective, do the things that they need to do to win a game. I'm sure they feel that way on the other side. I don't want to speak for Terry [Francona] but our guys need to do what they have to do."
All aboard
The Yankees are forgoing long airport lines and the baggage claim in favor of taking the train to Boston. It may not be the team's favorite mode of transportation, but it's a welcome change. "We've done it before," Girardi said.
No stiffness for Mo
Mariano Rivera said he didn't feel any stiffness in his left side Wednesday after throwing Tuesday, but Girardi still avoided using the closer - even when the score got too close for comfort. "If you can be cautious in this situation, it makes sense to be somewhat cautious," said Girardi, who used every bullpen pitcher available.
Yanks going 3-D
The Yankees' games against the Mariners at Safeco Field July 10 and 11 will be televised in 3-D, a first for baseball, by YES and FSN Northwest for DirecTV subscribers with 3-D sets. Ray Hopkins, YES' chief operating officer, said the production would emphasize the type of low-angle shots that enhance 3-D, much as MSG did when it televised the first NHL game in 3-D in March.
"From our perspective we're approaching this as an experiment and a great learning experience," Hopkins said.
Two days after the Yankees-Mariners series, Fox will produce the All-Star Game in 3-D.
