Curtis Granderson, last night's hitting star with two home runs and five runs batted in, has found his stride in the last month of the regular season.

His totals--21 home runs, 59 runs batted in and a .249 batting average--are not overly impressive. But his September work certainly has been. He has six homers, 17 RBIs and is hitting .290 for the month.

Granderson started his Yankee career hitting .221 with two homers and seven RBIs in April. He was on the disabled list with a groin injury  for 24 games in May and only had brief spurts of success in the following months.

Yankee fans wanted Johhny Damon to return and Granderson did little to shift those emotions in his direction. He looks like a hitter and base stealer, but he did little of either.

The Yankees were also hoping for the player who hit 30 homers with the Tigers last year. Granderson will not reach that number this season, but he could prove vital to the division race and the team's post season hopes.
