Jeter defends himself, teammates for not attending Sheppard's funeral
Derek Jeter responded to the criticism some have leveled at the Yankees for not having any players present at Bob Sheppard's funeral Thursday.
"I didn't even know his funeral was yesterday,'' Jeter said. "But having said that, I don't necessarily think you have to go to someone's funeral to honor someone.
"A lot of players have honored him. It's the reason why I've recorded his voice throughout the years and I'll continue to honor him every time I go to the plate in my career."
