Joba no longer rules the eighth

As Erik Boland writes today, Joba Chamberlain has lost his grip as the eighth inning bridge to Mariano Rivera. It seems obvious his career with the Yankees is in deep decline. 

This is not exactly new news. Chamberlain has rarely been the same pitcher of consistency as the one who broke in with national fanfare in 2007 by allowing one earned run in 24 innings of relief (0.38 ERA). 

In 2008, the Yankees tried to make him a starter and when that failed, they put him back in the bullpen and today he has a 5.95 ERA in 42 innings. 

Now that he has lost his role to David Robertson and/or Boone Logan, what remains for Chamberlain as a Yankee remains to be seen. .
