The law firm for one of Alex Rodriguez's former attorneys withdrew Friday a federal lawsuit that had been seeking more than $380,000 in alleged unpaid legal fees from A-Rod. But in the court filing, the law firm of Gordon Rees Scully Mansukhani said it was "reserving the right to refile this action in the appropriate state jurisdiction."
One of the firm's attorneys, David Cornwell, was part of Rodriguez's legal team when he sparred with Major League Baseball in 2013 regarding his performance-enhancing drug suspension related to Biogenesis.
A federal judge called the lawsuit "defective" at a recent hearing in Manhattan because it fails to state that none of its partners live in Florida, the same state as A-Rod.
Gordon & Rees had until Friday to file an amended lawsuit. An attorney representing Cornwell's firm did not immediately respond to a message seeking comment.
