Lee's turnaround started against Yanks
Today, he is the king of postseason pitchers, but Cliff Lee looked like toast during a bad streak with the Rangers right after they acquired him from Seattle. It continued on and off during his 15 starts. He did have a back injury which may have accounted for some of his poor showings.
Let's review some of his regular season starts after the deal:
July 10: Six earned runs in nine innings against Baltimore.
Aug. 16: Six earned runs in five innings against Tampa Bay.
Aug. 21: Eight earned runs in 5 2/3 innings vs. Baltimore.
Aug. 26: Five earned runs in five innings against Minnesota.
Aug. 31: Four earned runs in 4 2/3 innings vs. Kansas City.
Lee got got well, really well, on Sept. 12 when he allowed one run on two hits over eight innings. That was against the Yankees.
