Mets’ draft picks heading into 2016 MLB Draft

The 2016 MLB Draft begins on Thursday, June 9 at 7 p.m. Eastern Time and runs through Saturday, June 11.
The Mets pick 19th overall in the first round. They did not have a first-round pick in last year’s draft after signing Michael Cuddyer from the Rockies.
Here is the Mets’ full draft order for the 2016 MLB Draft:
Round 1: 19th overall; 31st overall (compensatory pick for Daniel Murphy, who signed with the Nationals)

The Mets hope they can find another gem in the middle-to-late rounds of the draft just as they did in 2010, when they selected a certain shortstop out of Stetson University with the 272nd overall pick. Six years later, Jacob deGrom — now a pitcher — is a key part of the Mets’ vaunted young rotation.
