If this general manager thing doesn't work out, Brian Cashman might have a future in weather forecasting.
This past week, the Yankees general manager announced that Michael Pineda would make his first minor-league rehab start Saturday night for Class A Tampa. "Weather permitting,'' Cashman added.
Well, the weather did not permit. Heavy rain forced the postponement of Saturday night's scheduled game against Lakeland at Joker Marchant Stadium.
Pineda, who is attempting to come back from shoulder surgery, will try again at 1 p.m. Sunday, also at Lakeland.
Weather permitting, of course. There is a 30-percent chance of rain.
