Montero sidelined with leg infection
The Jorge Posada concussion scare could have resulted in the Yankees calling up prized catcher Jesus Montero from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. That will not happen anytime soon with reports that the 20-year-old has an infection in his lower leg.
Posada, who took a foul tip to his facemask in Tuesday's game with the Orioles, was examined by a neurologist Wednesday and is listed as day-to-day. Francisco Cervelli and Chad Moeller are the other available catchers.
Montero, the International League's All-Star catcher, hit .351 with 14 homers in the second half of the season. With Montero scratched from the lineup, his team lost to Columbus in the first game of the International League playoffs.
