Jamie Moyer, 47, will be on the mound for the Phillies when they meet the Yankees tonight. Mariano Rivera, 40, could close it out if everything works well for the Yankees. Having two pitchers with a combined age of 87 in one game will not touch the big league record. That is held by Phil Niekro and Don Sutton, who were a combined 90 when they met in 1987. Moyer was already in his second major league season that year.

Moyer’s contract runs out this season but he might just stick around to see his son, Dillon, who was drafted by the Twins, make the bigs. Dillon, a shortstop, was born eight years after his dad was drafted by the Cubs in 1984.
