Jorge Posada took a huge hit to his public image May 14 when he pulled himself out of a Yankees-Red Sox game after was scheduled to hit ninth. His .165 batting average brought about questions that he was done, washed up and nearing the end of his career.
That is all a distant memory (for now) as Posada has been the hottest Yankee in the month of June, batting .377. Just to put that in perspective, Alex Rodriguez is batting .341 in June; Robinson Cano .304; Brett Gardner .333, Nick Swisher .325.
While Posada’s overall season numbers are still below what we except from the veteran, he’s gotten hot at the right time as the Yankees are 16-8 in June (with two games left) and are 1.5 games up on the Red Sox in the AL East.
Here is a month-by-month breakdown of Posada’s stats:
| MONTH | G | AB | R | H | HR | RBI | AVG | SLUG |
