Posada still optimistic
Jorge Posada said it wouldn't be a three-week injury when he landed on the DL May 20 with a hairline fracture in his right foot and he still feels that way.
“I don’t think it needs three weeks," Posada said.
Posada said he hopes to return by the Toronto/Baltimore trip and maybe sooner.
Joe Girardi is taking a little more cautious approach.
“I think a lot of it is going to take care of itself when we see him run, which is real close, we’re real close to seeing him run on a treadmill,” Girardi said. “Once he gets through, we’ll probably put him on the field to run. Once he gets through that, he is real close.”
Posada said he's been frustrated at times with his schedule.
"If they would tell me anything, I would tell you but they haven’t said anything,” Posada said. I don’t know what the plans are. I just come in here everyday and everyday they tell me something different…I’d like to know what’s going on.”
As for today's lineup:
Jeter ss
Granderson cf
Teixeira 1b
A-Rod 3b
Cano 2b
Swisher rf
Miranda dh
Gardner lf
Moeller c
Girardi said there's nothing wrong with Francisco Cervelli.
We had about a five-hour game yesterday,” Girardi said. “I don’t want to kill this kid.”
