Rangers Exes to thrive in Texas
Alex Rodriguez and Mark Teixeira have been asked much about playing the Rangers, their former team. They both have been very gracious, talking about how they enjoyed their time in Texas even though the club didn't win.
Expect both to have a good series. Both have good feelings about the ballpark, even though A-Rod is 1-for-13 lifetime against C.J. Wilson, tonight's starting pitcher.
Really, it doesn't go much beyond that. Rodriguez has been with the Yankees seven years since he was dealt from Texas. Teixeira is two teams removed from the Rangers. Kind of a nice story, but it doesn't mean all that much.
A-Rod was right, and classy, when he told Kim Jones on YES: "You can't say enough about what the Texas Rangers have done, from Nolan Ryan to Jon Daniels to Ron Washington. They put together a good team."
Dan Plesac made a great point on MLB Network a little while ago. He said that it says an awful lot about the Rangers that they are actually better off without Rodriguez, one of the greatest players of all time, and Teixeira, one of the all-around top solid players of current major league baseball. Good job by the Rangers.
Still, the Yankees do have those guys, which is one of the reasons they're the best team in the American League.
