Recalling Orioles '86 sweep of Yanks
If Baltimore wins today, it will be the Orioles' first series sweep against the Yankees in New York since 1986.
The last time:
June, 6 1986: O's win, 5-2. Cal Ripken and John Shelby homered as Scott McGregor beat Ron Guidry.
June 7: O's win, 7-5. Fred Lynn and Shelby homered and Mike Boddicker beat Tommy John.
June 8: O's win, 18-9. Lee Lacy hit three homers. Yankees starter Ed Whitson (ugh) lasted less than an inning. John came back in relief and gave up four runs.
