The Yankees had it with oft-injured reliever Alfredo Aceves, but the Red Sox think the righthander may help their bullpen.
Aceves was given a split contract, worth $650,000 in the majors and $200,000 for the minors.
Aceves, 29, pitched 12 innings last season before going on the disabled list in May with a season-ending back injury. He was 3-0 with a 3.00 ERA.
In November, Aceves broke his collarbone in a bicycle accident in Mexico.
