Rest assured, Vazquez gets start
Javier Vazquez will be pitching tonight on short rest--sort of. After Chicago bombed him on May 1, Joe Girardi skipped him until May 12 in Detroit, where he allowed two runs in seven innings. He then sat five more days until throwing to one batter against Boston this past Monday. Four days later, he starts against the Mets. The former member of the Atlanta Braves was 1-1 against the Mets last season. His Yankees’ record is 2-4 with an 8.01 earned run average.
