With Derek Jeter is now being compared  to Babe Ruth in contract talks, would it be unfair to compare salaries for the two Yankee greats?

Ruth hit .288 with 22 homers and 84 RBIs in 1935. He took a pay cut from $36,696 to $35,000 in  the following season.

Jeter hit .270 with 10 homers and 67 RBIs last season. And his agent will balk at an offer estimated at $15 million per year for three years for his 36-year-old client.

Ruth made a total of $910,696 in his 22-year career. Jeter made that in less than two weeks of a roughly six-month season.
