Say Hey, don't forget about Mays
Alex Rodriguez is probably less than two seasons away from reaching Willie Mays, who hit 660 career homers. But realize that Mays missed 266 games between 1952 and 1953 when he he served in the Army. Teams played a 154-game schedule in those years. Mays returned in 1954 and hit 41 homers. Had he not missed time because of the military, Mays surely had a shot at Babe Ruth's long standing record of 714.
