September slump at the plate
The Yankees come into tonight's series with Tampa Bay in a collective batting slump.
These are the September averages of key players:
Derek Jeter .167
Mark Teixeira .225
Jorge Posada .238
Robinson Cano .209
Nick Swisher .120
Brett Gardner .207
Lance Berkman, of all players, is hitting .500 for the month with 11 hits in 22 at-bats. That means a certain WFAN host will not get his wish that Berkman be left off the post season roster. Sorry, Mike. Alex Rodriguez is at .409 with eight runs batted in.
