Sergio Mitre to start Monday in Detroit, Javier Vazquez Tuesday
Vazquez will now have 10 days between starts and Mitre will essentially take Andy Pettitte's place in the rotation.
Pettitte was apparently quite upset about having his turn skipped against the Tigers, but the Yankees are taking no chances with Pettitte and his tight forearm/elbow. He had elbow surgery in 2004.
Mitre will be making his first start since Sept. 15.
