Nick Swisher maintains he hasn’t changed his approach. But there’s no denying he looks much better at the plate of late.
He went 1-for-2 yesterday, homering for the second time in as many games — a shot off the facing of the upper deck in rightfield. He’s hitting .316 (50-for-158) since May 29.
“I’m just being myself, man,” Swisher said. “I don’t feel like I’m doing anything different. I just feel like I’m being patient, just waiting for my pitch, and when I get it, I’m not missing it.”
“Several weeks ago, he wasn’t swinging the bat well but he was getting a lot of walks and was having long at-bats, seeing a lot of pitches,” Brett Gardner said. “You could tell he was really locked, he was seeing the ball well and it was a matter of time before everything started to click.”
