Swisher's above average season

Have you noticed that Nick Swisher is having a career year at the plate?

He is batting .311 -- more than 60 points above his lifetime average of .249. He has 10 homers and has driven in 36 runs. He has never hit higher than .262 over a full season.

Swisher has certainly revitalized his career since joining the Yankees. He had bottomed out with the White Sox in 2008, hitting .219 with 24 homers and 69 runs batted in. The Yankees got him as something of a utility player last season. He competed -- and lost -- the rightfield job to Xavier Nady. The X man came up with a bad elbow and Swisher took over, hitting 29 homers, driving in 82 runs and batting .249.

Swisher’s best season in terms of production came in 2006, when he had 35 homers and 95 RBIs for Oakland.
