Teixeira in tailspin
Mark Teixeira does not need an injury or two to place him in a slump. He can lose himself at the plate without any excuses.
It is April in September for Teixeira, who has been trying to play with a broken toe and bruised thumb. He has three hits in his last 26 at-bats and is batting .211 with no home runs and six runs batted in for September.
Teixeira had a great July and August, totaling 17 homers and 47 RBIs. That help bail out his usual frigid start, but now he has to find a way to get hot down the stretch.
