Those still lamenting the Yankees' failure to win the AL East may be pointing to one or two early season losses that came back to haunt the team.

We'd suggest going back only as as far as Sept. 23 at Yankee Stadium when CC Sabathia had a chance to give the Yankees a two game lead over the Rays in the loss column and three of four wins in the series.

Sabathia gave up seven earned runs in 5 1/2 innings as the Rays won, 10-3, behind David Price. After losing the first two games, Tampa Bay left town just a half-game behind.
