Murcer carries Yanks to emotional win

Hours after delivering a eulogy at Thurman Munson's funeral in Ohio, Bobby Murcer drove in all the runs in the Yankees' dramatic, emotional 5-4 comeback win over the Orioles at Yankee Stadium. Sadness swept the stadium in a pregame ceremony as the 36,314 in attendance remembered the Yankees' captain, who died in a plane crash four days earlier. The Yankees fell behind 4-0, but Murcer's three-run homer in the seventh inning pulled them within a run. He won it with a walk-off two-run single in the ninth in support of Ron Guidry, who pitched a complete game. Murcer, who dedicated the game to Munson, never used that bat again and gave it to Munson's widow, Diana.
