Vazquez can have no excuses
Javier Vazquez (3-5, 6.86) gets cut no slack tonight when he faces the Orioles and Brian Matusz (2-5, 5.76). This matches one of baseball’s best teams against the team with the worst record (15-36) in the big leagues.
After showing some signs of success, Vazquez faltered in his last start against the Twins, giving up five runs in 5.2 innings in an 8-2 loss.
The Yankees have won five of six against Baltimore and the Yankee pitching staff has collective 1.30 ERA.
Vazquez is 6-2 with a 4.80 ERA in 12 lifetime starts against Baltimore. The Yankee Stadium crowd will have no patience for a poor outing by Vazquez. ?
