Why didn't Girardi take Burnett out before the Molina home run?

You'd think that Joe Girardi would have signed on for two runs over five innings from A.J. Burnett heading into the game. Heck, Burnett had gone 16 days without pitching in a major-league game coming into this one, so why not?

Yet when that situation presented himself, Girardi still stuck with Burnett, sending him out for a sixth inning - and that's where it all went downhill. On one pitch to Bengie Molina, to be exact.

"We liked the matchup, A.J. against Molina, we did," Girardi said. "And unfortunately it didn't work out... That's the nature of this business when you're a manager. If things go right, they say, well, you do the right thing. If things go wrong, they say, well, you made the mistake.

"But he was throwing the ball good. It was hard to argue with the way he was throwing the baseball."
