Yankees AL Wild Card ratings up more than 50 percent
The Yankees’ victory over the Athletics in Wednesday night’s American League wild-card game was watched by an average of 5.0 percent of homes in major markets counted in “overnight” ratings, up 56 percent from TBS’ coverage of last year’s NL wild-card game and 52 compared with Turner’s 2016 AL wild-card coverage.
The New York market averaged 14.1 percent of homes for the game, which the Yankees won, 7-2. The San Francisco area averaged an 8.9 rating.
Viewership across all markets for the game averaged 6.4 million, 51 percent above the 2016 AL game and 45 percent above the 2017 NL game, both of which were on TBS. The viewership peaked at 7.5 million from 9:15 to 9:30 p.m.
