This was the approach against Cliff Lee: Don't be overly patient. Go up there swinging because he just throws strikes and you're likely to be down 0-2.

The Yankees also seem to be using that strategy against Colby Lewis. Derek Jeter set the tone by swinging on the first pitch of the game. He also set a tone by grounding out on that swing. Jorge Posada popped to center on the first pitch in the third.

So far, no hits against Lewis, who, unlike Lee, is known to walk a batter or two. Maybe it's time for the Yankees to be a little less rushed, or maybe they see that it's a generous strike zone tonight, both ways.
