Yankees’ draft picks heading into the 2016 MLB Draft

The 2016 MLB Draft begins on Thursday, June 9 at 7 p.m. ET and runs through Saturday, June 11.
The Yankees pick 18th overall in the first round. They drafted UCLA righthander James Kaprielian with the 16th overall pick in the 2015 draft.

The Yankees hope they can find another gem in the middle-to-late rounds of the draft just as they did in 2006, when they selected a certain pitcher out of Grand Street Campus High School in the Bronx with the 254th overall pick. 10 years later, Dellin Betances is a two-time All-Star and part of the Yankees’ trio of lights-out relievers at the back end of the bullpen.
