Yankees farm report: Dellin Betances

Dellin Betances didn’t get quite the swooning reaction that prospect Manny Banuelos did this spring, but the 23-year-old righthander, drafted in the eighth round of the 2006 draft, did just fine.
“Looked pretty good to me,” one opposing team’s scout said.
The 6-8, 260-pound Betances, whose fastball routinely reaches the high 90’s, had a setback to start the season as he was shelved for a little more than two weeks with a blister on his pitching hand. But he’s had two good starts since then, most recently Wednesday night against Portland when he earned the victory by allowing one run and four hits in five innings.
Betances had five strikeouts and no walks, giving him 11 and two, respectively, in those categories so far. In three starts, Betances is 1-1 with a 1.38 ERA.
The Brooklyn native is probably not Bronx-bound this season but a promotion to Triple-A at some point seems all but certain.
