Austin Romine, 21, sometimes gets forgotten with all the excitement and anticipation surrounding fellow catching prospect Jesus Montero, but the highly rated catcher just continues to produce. The 2007 second-round pick hit .300 in his first full minor-league season for Class A Charleston in 2008 and hit a solid .276 with 28 doubles and 72 RBIs for Class A Tampa last season. Romine, an exceptional athlete considered better defensively than Montero, started this season at Double-A Trenton where, entering last night, he was hitting .304, second best on the team, with 23 RBIs, third highest on the team. His .376 on-base percentage also ranks third. A promotion to Triple-A by the end of the season is not out of the question.
