Justus Sheffield, LHP
For now, Sheffield will be staying in Pennsylvania instead of heading for the Bronx as a September call-up.. “He’s going to stay in play as a reliever down there and we’ll continue to evaluate,” Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said Saturday. “Clearly we’re at a 40-man situation now where there’s no spots.” Sheffield, playing at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, was being primed for the bullpen in the Bronx but the Yankees are now roster-heavy with the Aug. 31 additions of outfielder Andrew McCutcheon and shortstop Adeiny Hechavarria, putting Sheffield's September call-up in jeopardy.
Estevan Florial, OF
Hit .269 with two home runs and nine RBIs for Tampa in August despite going 8-for-38 in his last 10 games of the month. Expect to see him playing in the Arizona Fall League.
Jonathan Loaisiga, RHP
Off the DL, he's back in Trenton's rotation. Held Altoona to five hits and run in four innings Tuesday and would be call-up worthy if the Yankees need him. At minimum, he's likely to stay with the Thunder through the Eastern League playoffs.
Albert Abreu, RHP
He allowed two runs, four hits and walked four in five innings to earn the win against St. Lucie on Aug. 23. Abreu has a 4.16 ERA and 1.32 WHIP in 62 2/3 innings for Tampa this season.
Domingo Acevedo, RHP
Tossed three scoreless innings of relief to earn the win in Loaisiga’s last start. He is 3-3 with a 2.99 ERA in the minors this season. Will be playing in the Arizona Fall League.
