SEATTLE -- The Yankees will open next season with a three-game series at Tropicana Field April 6-8, part of a six-game trip to start the 2012 regular season, according to a preliminary schedule released by Major League Baseball Wednesday.

The Yankees travel to Baltimore for a three-game set April 9-11. After an off day April 12, the Yankees kick off their home schedule with a three-game series against the Angels April 13-15.

Their first series of the season against the Red Sox will be a three-game set April 20-22 at Fenway Park, which will be celebrating its centennial. The April 20 game will be 100 years to the day that the Red Sox beat the then-New York Highlanders in the first game played at Fenway.

The Red Sox don't make their first visit to the Stadium until July 27, the start of a three-game series. Boston returns to the Stadium for another weekend series that begins Aug. 17. The rivals will conclude the season against each other Oct. 1-3 at the Stadium.

In interleague play, the Yankees are scheduled to face the Reds (May 18-20) the Mets (June 8-10) and Braves (June 18-20) at the Stadium, and the Braves (June 11-13), Nationals (June 15-17) and Mets (June 22-24) on the road.
