Yanks take over first as Rays lose
Tampa Bay lost at home to the Twins, 8-6, this afternoon. That gives the idle Yanks a half-game lead over the Rays, who started the day tied with the Bombers in the AL East.
Minnesota scored four runs in the first inning, then had to hold on late as Jason Bartlett' s grand slam home run keyed a six-run eighth for the Rays.
The Yankees host the Red Sox tomorrow. Tampa Bay is at Toronto.
