Arron Afflalo hopes to begin running Sunday

Arron Afflalo hopes to begin running Sunday, but he's not sure when he will make his Knicks debut.
Afflalo, who was signed in July to be the starting shooting guard, has a strained left hamstring, and the plan is to take it slowly. When Afflalo comes back, he wants it to be for good.
He missed the Knicks' first three preseason games with a hamstring injury and then aggravated it in the preseason finale.
"We're hoping before the weekend is up maybe we can get that going," Derek Fisher said. "We'll see. He's definitely getting better. He's improving. He's getting closer. We don't really want to get into dates and times yet."
No pain for Carmelo
Carmelo Anthony reported no pain in his surgically repaired left knee after his first back-to-back games since the February procedure, but he thinks the time off is why he shot 14-for-43 in the first two games. Anthony said he needs "a couple more weeks" to get the power back in his legs for his jump shot. Said Anthony, "The knee is completely fine."
Honoring Flip
The Wizards held a moment of silence for their former coach, Flip Saunders. Wizards coach Randy Wittman missed the start of the game because he attended Saunders' memorial service in Minnesota on Saturday. Assistants Don Newman and Don Zierden shared coaching duties until Wittman returned.
Knickknacks
Kevin Seraphin was available to make his debut Saturday night. The former Wizard missed the first two games with swelling in his right knee . . . The Westchester Knicks selected Jimmer Fredette with the second pick in the D-League draft. Fredette recently was cut by the Spurs.
