CLEVELAND -- Baron Davis went through a workout before Wednesday night's Cavaliers-Knicks game but said he's still not ready to play in an NBA game. "It's just a matter of when I can get over that last bit of soreness, that last bit of pain, and continue to get stronger, being able to push for an extended period of time," Davis said. "Right now I can go in spurts. I'm just not comfortable mentally or physically out there."
Davis is trying to return from a herniated disc. He's only gone through one practice and one game of 3-on-3 and says he needs more contact work.
The Knicks generally don't practice after a back-to-back. But coach Mike D'Antoni said he likely would bring in some players Thursday in Miami so Davis can play 3-on-3. D'Antoni didn't sound optimistic about Davis playing Friday at the Heat.
"I think we're pushing it," D'Antoni said. "I know everybody's anxious. We're anxious. He's anxious. We don't want to do something that's crazy."
