Carmelo Anthony scored 42 points and had 17 rebounds, but it wasn't enough as the Boston Celtics took a 2-0 series lead in the first round of the Eastern Conference quarterfinals, 96-93.
New York was playing without Chauncey Billups, who had a left knee injury, and lost Amar'e Stoudemire in the second quarter to back spasms.
Rajon Rondo led the Celtics in scoring with 30 points.
