A jersey worn by Knicks star Jalen Brunson in Game 1 of the NBA Finals sold at auction for more than $1 million, auction house Sotheby’s revealed on its website on Wednesday night.
The jersey worn by the eventual Finals MVP had a final bid of $1,024,000, according to Sotheby’s. Brunson’s jersey was the highest-priced of the 35 NBA Finals items available in an auction that began on June 30 and ended on Wednesday night.
Other Knicks jerseys (all from Game 1) that were sold included those worn by OG Anunoby and Karl-Anthony Towns ($256,000 apiece), Josh Hart ($89,600), Mikal Bridges ($70,400), Mitchell Robinson and Landry Shamet ($32,000 apiece), Jose Alvarado and Deuce McBride ($28,160 apiece), Jordan Clarkson ($15,360), Mohamed Diawara ($10,240), Tyler Kolek ($8,960), Jeremy Sochan ($6,400), Pacome Dadiet ($5,760) and Ariel Hukporti ($5,376).
A Game 3 jersey worn by Spurs star Victor Wembanyama was sold for $217,600. Game 3 was San Antonio’s only victory in the series, which the Knicks took in five games for their first championship since 1973.
Non-jersey items that were sold included two pieces of the Madison Square Garden court.
One piece that included an NBA logo fragment and the letters “FIN” from the word “Finals” went for $243,200.
The other piece, which included the “ALS” from the word “Finals,” was sold for $115,200.
A net used in the clinching Game 5 in San Antonio went for $179,200. A Game 1 net from the Garden was sold for $89,600.
The banner used during the trophy presentation after the Knicks won the title on June 13 was sold for $32,000.
The lowest-priced auction item was a Game 1 jersey worn (presumably on the bench) by San Antonio guard Jordan McLaughlin, who did not play in the series. It sold for $1,024.
