Carmelo Anthony sat out Wednesday night's game against the Mavericks due to back spasms.

"He's making some progress but not enough for him to be in the game," Derek Fisher said. "It'll be day-to-day I'm sure, but probably not tonight.

"He's not in a lot of comfort so really just trying to rest up and get himself better."

Without Anthony, the Knicks started Jose Calderon, Iman Shumpert, J.R. Smith, Quncy Acy and Sam Dalembert.

Anthony experienced the back spasms late in the first half of Monday's 91-86 loss in Houston. The Knicks close out their three-game trip Friday in Oklahoma City. At this point, Anthony's status for that game is unclear but it doesn't looking promising.
