Derrick Rose out for Knicks against Warriors

OAKLAND, Calif. — The Knicks faced the powerhouse Warriors on Thursday night without Derrick Rose, who sat out with lower back stiffness.
Rose said he is hopeful of returning when the Knicks end their western swing on Saturday night in Denver.
“Just got to be smart about it,” said Rose, who missed two games because of the injury last week and then reinjured the back when he was fouled and fell on it in the first quarter on Tuesday night in Phoenix. “It’s frustrating as hell, but just have to be smart about it. It’s improving, but it’s not where I want it to be, so I’m looking for hopefully playing in Denver.”
Anthony on Durant
Carmelo Anthony tried during the summer to sell Kevin Durant on the idea of coming to New York. It didn’t work, and the superstar signed with the Warriors for two years and $54.3 million to join their star-studded roster.
“We had multiple conversations just about New York, the Knicks, him,” Anthony said. “As far as where his mindset was at, I don’t think nobody knew. There were multiple conversations and dialogues between us, whether it was coming to New York and the city of New York and basketball.”
Durant, who can opt out of his contract after this season, chose not to meet with the Knicks during his free-agent tour.

Anthony, a vice president of the NBA players’ union, said he was pleased with what he has seen of the collective-bargaining agreement the players and league agreed to in principle on Wednesday.
“I’ve read most of the agreement,” he said. “The one thing I would say about it is I’m glad that we were able to not opt out and come to an agreement that both parties for the most part feel comfortable with.”
