GREENBURGH, N.Y. -- Landry Fields will resume his role as starting shooting guard Sunday against the 76ers. J.R. Smith will return to being a reserve.

Coach Mike D'Antoni said he likes the way Fields played in the past two games. He started at small forward Friday against the Bucks after coming off the bench Wednesday in San Antonio and averaged 13 points in the two games.

Point-counterpoint

D'Antoni plans to play Jeremy Lin and Baron Davis together more after they combined for 29 points and 22 assists in Milwaukee.

"I think more," he said. "I don't know how much. I think the game dictates that a little, who we're playing. But I do like two point guards on the floor, so we can use that."

Change of direction

Iman Shumpert was scoreless in five minutes Friday, and D'Antoni said he thought the rookie lacked focus. He changed his opinion after talking to him Saturday.

"The biggest reason was Baron and Jeremy were playing really well together," D'Antoni said. "Because of that, his minutes got way down. I did think he didn't seem to have the vitality and the vibes that are really good. That's why I said it. I just talked to him, and that's not the case. He's ready to roll. He's fine. It's just a rookie night that he had."

Jeffries out again

Jared Jeffries (sore right knee) will miss his third straight game Sunday.
