The annual Eddy Curry injury came a day later than usual, but it came. The Knicks on Monday announced that Curry underwent an MRI that revealed a strained right hamstring, which will keep him out for a four-to-six week period. He will not join the team later this week for their 8-day trip to Europe, which includes stops in Milan and Paris.

Curry suffered the injury during Sunday's practice. He was held out of Monday morning's conditioning session. Curry two years ago missed all of camp a viral infection and last season he suffered a calf injury on the first day, so perhaps the fact that he made it to the second day can be viewed as progress.

On a more serious note, this could be the final straw, but that's been said before. The Knicks could consider a buyout, but it's not likely, unless Curry agrees to a lower number. As we told you this morning, Curry already has half of his $11.3M salary for this season in his pocket, so the Knicks would be negotiating off the remaining half.

But Curry is still an asset because of his expiring contract, which would be useful in a trade for a big money guy such as Carmelo Anthony. So it might be better off keeping him on the roster for a while, just until the Carmelo thing is settled.

Curry did pass his physical before training camp, but according to a report by the New York Times, he came in weighing 325 pounds. That is 20 pounds heavier than he was during most of last season.

As for voiding the contract, which is a question everyone asks, it's still entirely unlikely.
