As the Knicks prepare to make their final roster cuts, J.R. Smith said he doesn't agree with Mike Woodson's statement from Wednesday that family ties should help his brother Chris make the squad.

"I don't want that to come into play because then I think that's a crutch for him, that's an excuse for him to make the team," J.R. Smith said Thursday. "I think that he should make the team based on his own talent and his own ability."
