You never have to encourge Stephen Jackson to tell you how he really feels. The man who once announced that he makes love to pressure also tends to spin controversy on the dance floor.

And as he told the Charlotte Observer's Rick Bonnell, that reputation cost him a spot on the all-star team this year; a spot he feels he deserved but that, because of his history, David Stern would never consider giving him.

"I thought the all-star game was about [assembling] the 20 best players in the league, not the guys they want [promoted] to sell tickets," Jackson told the Observer. "Nothing against David Lee, but he made it and my team has a better record."

The Observer points out that Bobcats coach Larry Brown was optimistic when the league inquired about Jackson's availability.

Regardless of the all-star snub, Captain Jack believes he knows where his place is among his peers.

"If you look at the two-guards in the league," he said, "you can't tell me I'm not in the top five."

Let's play along: 1. Kobe Bryant, 2. Dwyane Wade, 3. Joe Johnson, 4. Brandon Roy . . . then I guess he's right because after that it's a take-your-pick: Jackson, Monta Ellis, Tyreke Evans, Ray Allen, Vince Carter, Jason Richardson, etc.
