The Linsanity continues as Jeremy Lin proves he’s must-see TV and a goldmine at the same time.
The Knicks sent out back-to-back releases about Lin’s impact on the Garden of Dreams Foundation and MSG Network.
On the TV side, the Knicks’ last two games on MSG were the two-most watched regular-season contest since the network began tracking household ratings at the start of the 1988-89 NBA season, the release said.
It said the Nets’ game last night was No. 1 and the Hornets game Friday was a close second. The Hornets’ game also was the third-highest rated show in New York during primetime Friday, behind 20/20 and Blue Bloods.
Both were the highest-rated event on MSG since Game 6 of the 2000 Eastern Conference semifinals.
Lin’s impact also was felt in an online auction where the jersey he wore in the Feb. 10 game against the Lakers – the night he scored a career-best 38 points – raised $42,388.
The jersey was auctioned off with four tickets and a postgame meeting with Lin for tomorrow night’s game against the Hawks.
The release said it was the first time a Garden of Dreams auction item raised more than $40,000.
