Kenyon Martin re-signs with Knicks for one year
The Knicks re-signed power forward Kenyon Martin yesterday. Martin, 35, inked a one-year deal for the veterans' minimum of roughly $1.4 million.
He averaged 7.2 points and 5.3 rebounds in 18 games last season, and played a key role in the Knicks' 13-game winning streak from March 18-April 9. Martin started nine of those games.
Martin, the No. 1 pick in the 2000 NBA draft, gives the Knicks toughness and defense at power forward and center and strengthens their bench.
Meanwhile, the Nets released their seven-game preseason schedule and it doesn't feature a game against the crosstown rival Knicks.
Instead, the Nets will play two games each against the Heat and Celtics, including Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce's return to Boston on Oct. 23.
