A source tells Newsday that the Knicks have had free agent guard Shannon Brown on the radar all summer and are poised to make an offer if he is not re-signed by the Lakers.

Brown has the Lakers atop his preference list, but the Knicks are a close second, mainly because they can offer playing time, a higher profile and an up-tempo system that fits his skill set.

Fixer buddy K-Berg first reported the story at CBSSports.com. Berger says the Knicks have made an offer, but I can not confirm. The team has about $2.5M left in salary cap space to sign the 24-year-old Brown, who has two rings with the Lakers.
