Knicks still looking as deadline passes

Though their biggest move has already been made, the Knicks remain active before the NBA trade deadline, which is 3 p.m. Thursday. But after moving six players in Tuesday's blockbuster trade for Carmelo Anthony, there isn't much on the roster the Knicks are willing to offer to fill needs at center and backup point guard.
The Knicks did inquire with the Trail Blazers about Marcus Camby, but a person with knowledge of the situation said the asking price was high, with rookie Landry Fields as one name that came up in those brief talks.
It appears likely that the Knicks will look to add a player off the waiver pile that gets built up after the deadline. Before the Anthony trade, the Knicks were already in the market for size, and the departure of 7-1 rookie Timofey Mozgov has made that an even higher priority. Troy Murphy, who is 6-11 and expected to be bought out by Golden State following yesterday's trade from the Nets, is among the bigs the Knicks will consider. Murphy would be a good fit because of his ability to rebound and shoot the three, though his defense leaves something to be desired.
Another option is 7-footer Earl Barron, a free agent who had a strong seven-game stint at the end of last season.
Carter helps out
Anthony Carter may be a throw-in piece of the trade, but he played a vital role in making sure the trade went through. How? The veteran guard, who is in a one-year veterans minimum contract, had to agree to waive his Bird Rights. Carter may have been accommodating at the request of his agent, Bill Duffy, who also represents Anthony Randolph. Duffy and Randolph were looking forward to a new beginning in Minnesota after the 21-year-old spent most of this season on Mike D'Antoni's bench.
