The Knicks remain the most valuable franchise in the NBA, according to Forbes magazine, at $1.4 billion, up 27 percent from last year thanks, Forbes said, to increased revenue from the renovated Madison Square Garden and a second-round playoff run.
Forbes reported the Knicks' operating income for 2012-13 at $96 million, an NBA record, and revenue at $287 million.
The Lakers were second on the valuation list at $1.35 billion, followed by the Bulls at $1 billion, the Celtics at $875 million and the Nets at $780 million.
With commissioner David Stern's 30-year reign winding down, Forbes said overall NBA revenue had risen from $118 million per year in 1982-83 to $4.6 billion in 2012-13.
